On January 9, 2015, London Collections: Men kicked off. Over the next five days, we got to see the best of menswear for the Autumn/Winter 2015 season. These collections will start arriving in the stores mid-late August and hit the sales floors around the first week of September. Menswear is becoming a force to be reckoned with. There are chances being taken and some hints of nostalgic inspirations, but also amazing tailoring and color palettes in every collection. Some neutral and some wild, but there is something here for everyone. Hope you enjoy the post and see some things that you need to have in your closet. Let’s get started.
The first show was Topshop/Topman Design. When I moved here, one of the first places I wanted to go to (besides Buckingham Palace) was Topshop. They are one of the many places/shops that define the British Look to me. The collection reminded me of the 1970’s when I was a kid and when the Bay City Rollers rocked the tartan!!! Boiler suits, sheepskins and tartans galore with a hint of flare, given that the skinny trouser is all the rage still. This collection made me crazy and I pretty much want every piece!!!! Here are a few shots from the show:
The next show was Kit Neale. To me, this show was inspired by the early 80’s Two Tone/Rude Boy styles with the hats and the very sharp, but cropped trousers with a combination of the crazy 90’s patterns and colors thrown in. The lettered pieces reminds me so much of Stephen Sprouse in a way. These also have a little flare and cuffs, which are quite cool to see. Here are a few shots:
Accessories giant, Coach got in on the game and showcased their men’s line as well. Love the color palette!!! The coats are amazing!!!!!!! Here are a few shots:
Alex Mullins is another designer with an amazing color palette!!!! Very neutral (lots of brown, beige and cream with a pop of blue and bubblegum pink) and flare in the pants. I believe he did everything in corduroy, which is a pretty cool winter fabric, wool and denim. Here are a few shots:
Another collection full of neutral colors is Universal Works. They also use a lot of navy, with tones of black, olive and even a pop of orange. Here are a few shots:
Aquascutum, to me is tailoring personified for the retail market. If you can’t get Saville Row, this comes pretty close. Very sleek and very dressy. Totally works for the office and the street!!!!! Did I mention that the tailoring is AMAZEBALLS!!!!! Here are a few pics:
This is Christopher Shannon’s Autumn/Winter collection. Totally edgy and surreal menswear. With bits of cubism thrown in to provide a 3D look to the pieces, this was one of the more fun streetwear shows. I can’t wait to see guys rocking these pieces on the streets!!! Here are a few shots:
Heritage brand, Barbour also showed their new menswear collection. Country clothes with a city feel, as well a a younger touch, these pieces are the kind of staples that you SHOULD have in your closet. They can travel from the office (when dressed up), to the pub (when dressed down) and out to the countryside. AWESOME pieces that cover the all around male!!! Here are a few shots:
The last show for the day was Todd Lynn. This designer is totally selling me on the rockstar look!!!! I’m surprised I haven’t tripped over a few bands looking like this!!! Love all of the black, with hints of navy, white and green. So cool and unaffected!!!!! Here are a few shots:
Well, this is just the first day of London Collections: Men and it totally rocked my world. These were all of my favorites of the first day. I will cover the 2nd and 3rd days in my next post. Let me know what you think!!!
Stay fashionable and sexy!!!!!
